Land, sea and movement

A rather all-encompassing title that brings together the pictures that I consider to represent my style – although that can vary depending on my mood, circumstances and, of course, the light.

I tend to favour fairly flat conditions for my photography – I’m never happier than when I’m shooting in a fine mist, up to my ankles in snow, or in the soft light at the end of the day.

I also like to invoke a sense of movement in my images – be that through long exposures with my camera mounted on a tripod; exposures where I’ve handheld the camera and deliberately moved it while the shutter is open; or simple panning with a moving subject. I never cease to be amazed at the ability of film to record a reality that’s different from that which we see with the naked eye.
